Hopin rides high on its new unicorn status
Hopin

Is any company growing faster than Hopin right now? With its recent valuation of $2.1 billion, you’d be hard pushed to find a meaningful comparison. We may have supported over 1800 clients on their start-up journeys, but we’ve never known a tech company to achieve unicorn status in eight months since launching their product.

Harper James has been Hopin’s legal adviser from the beginning and by the stellar scale-up’s side on their record-breaking arc. Their just-announced Series B fundraise of $125m takes the total investment in the London-based online events platform to $170m since Johnny Boufarhat founded them back in 2019.

As Hopin’s legal requirements increased, they called on our broad range of business legal services. Because of the agile way our business model is designed, our legal support plans flexed to meet their shifting day-to-day needs.

For Toby Harper, our CEO and founder, it’s a real privilege to be part of Hopin’s growth: ‘It’s as humbling as it is inspiring for Harper James to have been involved in such an incredible success story. Hopin has to be one of the fastest-growing companies ever and we’ve been there from day one. Supporting and facilitating that sort of growth from a legal perspective brings its own demands, but it’s a challenge that we’re more than able to meet. Everyone involved with Hopin sees this as an opportunity to dominate the online event space and we look forward to being there as Johnny and his remarkable team continue to do just that. We are here to help ambitious founders and businesses achieve their goals, whether they’re valued at $0 or $2 billion, and we’ve got the legals covered in a way that is accessible for all.’

Johnny Boufarhat, CEO and founder of Hopin had this to say: ‘We started the year with six people at Hopin, and we are ending the year with close to 250. We are profitable now and if we can use this money and take us all the way to an IPO that would be fantastic.’

Lameece Nagib, Hopin’s head of operations, added:

‘Knowing you have that level of support is incredibly reassuring for us at a time when the work is coming in so thick and fast. The last six months have been a whirlwind.’

Hopin, whose innovative service now connects 3.5m worldwide users, will use the investment to grow their team, meet the surge in demand and keep innovating. The tech unicorn has also unveiled a brand new service, Hopin Explore, an events marketplace that promises a personalised experience for those seeking out the best events.
