A global healthcare business says the ‘first-class support’ from Harper James Solicitors is helping them secure lucrative new contracts. Our commercial partner Karen Mason worked hand-in-hand with Sysmex UK, who are a major supplier of medical and laboratory equipment to hospitals across the UK and Ireland.
We advised Sysmex on two major contracts: one relates to services Sysmex hope to provide to the NHS over a 15-year period, while another involves procurement arrangements with several hospitals across three counties.
We spoke to Keith Howes, who’s managing director of Sysmex UK, who told us: ‘I have worked with Karen for more than 20 years and during that time she has come to know our business, and our market, inside out. Karen has supported us in a number of areas, including reviewing and advising on complex commercial contracts with NHS partners, and developing business-to-business sub-contractual distribution agreements. She has regularly attended meetings with NHS trusts on our behalf to ensure our interests are kept front and centre of any agreements we enter into. As a result of this, Karen has come to understand our appetite for risk and has become a firmly embedded member of our team.’
Commenting on the recent support provided, Keith added: ‘The two contracts Harper James has been advising on were both major pieces of work worth tens of millions of pounds in potential business.
