John Starr is a construction solicitor. John’s practice encompasses a wide range of construction, engineering and professional negligence claims, together with general commercial and contract advice including JCT and other standard form building contracts, bespoke contracts, warranties, bonds, guarantees and professional appointments. John has held previous positions at Boyes Turner and Dentons.
He specialises in construction and engineering disputes and is highly experienced in Technology and Construction Court (TCC) litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation. John often deals with disputes on defects, extensions of time, loss and expense, delays, practical completion, JCT and NEC, with a number of parties including architects, engineers, QS, construction professionals, contractors and employers.
John writes the monthly construction column for Property Law Journal and has also contributed articles to Estates Gazette and the quarterly journal of The Academy of Experts.
He has also given seminars to the RICS and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and in-house to clients.
John is a Member of the Law Society, the Society of Construction Law and the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association.
He holds a Master’s degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King’s College London.
